OPERATING RECORDS

Create a consistent record of day-to-day activity.

Bookkeeping records the transactions that later reporting depends on. Our work can cover agreed sales, purchases, receipts, payments and expense records, using a documented classification and collection routine. The scope reflects the transaction volume, record condition and processing frequency rather than assuming every business needs the same arrangement.

Define the source and responsibility

We establish which documents are supplied, how they reach the working records and who answers transaction queries. The process identifies the entities and periods covered and distinguishes business activity from personal or unrelated items. Unclear transactions are referred for confirmation; their purpose is not guessed to clear a task list.

Process with a visible exception trail

Entries are connected to available supporting material, and relevant duplicates, missing documents or inconsistent descriptions are flagged. Questions should have an owner and a response record. Changes to approved information are controlled so later reviewers can understand the reason for an adjustment. Management remains responsible for the completeness and validity of supplied information.

Prepare the next handover

Completed processing can support reconciliation, month-end accounting or another agreed reporting stage. The handover identifies the cut-off date, records processed and unresolved exceptions. Frequency and response expectations are set in the engagement. Bookkeeping alone does not provide an audit opinion or automatically include tax returns, statutory submissions or payroll administration.

Common questions

Can you process a mixture of paper records and exports?

We first assess readability, completeness and duplication risk, then agree a collection method and the work required to organise the material.
