OPERATING RECORDS

Resolve the accounting backlog with a controlled recovery plan.

Historical records can become difficult to use when entries, supporting documents and opening balances no longer align. A remediation assignment examines the condition of the ledger and defines a recoverable sequence of work. We establish what can be corrected, what needs further evidence and what limitations remain.

Assess before adjusting

The first stage identifies affected entities, periods, systems and significant balances. We compare available records and assess the scale of missing or duplicated information. Historical corrections can affect later periods, so we establish the dependencies before changing transactions. The assessment informs the scope, priorities and information requests.

Separate corrections from unresolved judgements

The work may include organising documents, investigating misclassifications, reviewing duplicates and preparing proposed adjustments. Each material change needs an explanation and appropriate approval. Where evidence is unavailable, the issue remains documented for a decision rather than being removed through an unsupported balancing entry. We do not promise a complete reconstruction without reviewing the sources.

Re-establish an operating baseline

The handover explains the periods addressed, changes made, balances requiring further work and the records available for future review. We can also recommend collection and reconciliation routines to reduce recurrence. Any amended filing, tax treatment or assurance requirement must be assessed and agreed separately with the relevant authorised professional.

Common questions

Can remediation be prioritised around a reporting deadline?

Yes, where feasible. A staged scope can address critical balances first, but outstanding historical matters and their effect on the output remain disclosed.
